3 Varieties of Dosa

Having dosa with different varieties of chutney is nothing new. It keeps you alleviated from the food boredom.

But let’s keep that monotony further away by making three different flavors of dosa.


What do you need

Used Measuring (1 Cup = 255 ml)

For Tomato Dosa

  • 2/3 cup raw rice

  • 3 tomato

  • 1 tsp chili powder

  • 3/4 tsp coriander powder

  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder

    For Tempering

  • 1/2tsp mustard seeds and split black gram (urad dal)

  • 1 /2 tsp cumin

  • Few curry and coriander leaves

  • Salt (as per taste)

For Green Gram Dosa

  • 2/3 cup green gram

  • 1/4 cup idli rice

  • 1 onion

  • 5 garlic cloves

  • 1/2 inch ginger

  • 2 green chilies

  • 1 tsp cumin

  • 1/2 tsp hing

  • Salt (as per taste)

For Beetroot Dosa

  • 1 cup dosa batter

  • 1/2 beetroot

  • 1 egg

  • 1/2 onion (optional)

  • 1/2 tsp pepper (optional)

  • Salt (as per taste)

Preparation

Tomato Dosa

  • Soak the rice for 3-4 hours.

  • Grind the rice with tomatoes to a dosa batter consistency.

  • Add turmeric powder, chili powder, coriander powder, and salt into the batter and mix it well. [PIC 1]

  • Heat oil in a pan, Add the ingredients one by one under tempering list and mix it in the batter. [PIC 2]

Green Gram Dosa

  • Soak the rice and green gram for 6 hours.

  • Grind everything under ingredients list together (Including soaked rice and green gram) to semi coarse batter consistency.

Beetroot Dosa

  • Grate the beetroot. Add a tsp of oil in a pan when its hot add chopped onion and saute it for a minute.

  • Add grated beetroot and cook for 3 mins. Keep it aside.

  • Add one egg into the batter and mix it well with salt and pepper. [PIC 3]

  • Now add grated cooked beetroot and mix it again. [PIC 4]

Lets Cook

  • In a hot tawa pour a ladle of prepared tomato dosa batter in the center and spread it evenly in a circular shape. Pour a tsp of oil or ghee around it.

  • Cook the dosa for a minute and then flip it to other side and cook for a minute.

  • Repeat above 2 steps to make Green Gram & Beetroot Dosa.


Three different options! Healthy, Tangy and Colourful. Enjoy!
