Chana Masala

Chana Masala

Chickpeas lower the risk of diabetes. These beans are high in fiber and help to lose overall weight.


What do you need for 2 Servings

  • 100gms of Chickpea

  • 1 Tomato

  • 1 Onion

  • 1 tsp Ginger Garlic paste

  • 1 tsp Red chilli powder

  • 3/4 tsp Coriander powder

  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder

  • 1 tsp Garam masala powder

  • 1 Green Chilli

  • 2 tbsp Oil

  • Coriander leaves

  • Salt - as needed

For Seasoning

  • 1 Bay leaf

  • 1/2 tsp Fennel seeds

  • 1 medium sized Cinnamon

  • 2 Cloves

  • 1 cardamom

  • 1/2 onion

  • 1/2 green chili

Let’s Cook

  • Soak chickpeas/chana overnight.

  • Next cook soaked chana in a pressure cooker. 4 whistles should be enough.

  • Chop 1 onion & 1 tomato roughly.

  • Pour 1 tsp of oil in a pan, when its hot add chopped onion and fry it for a minute. Now add ginger, garlic paste and saute till raw smell goes off. Add tomato to the mixture cook until it mashes well.

  • Allow above mixture to be cooled and then grind it.

  • Add 1 tsp oil with all the ingredients under seasoning list and fry for a while then pour the grinded masala paste.

  • Next add red chili powder, coriander powder,turmeric powder with salt and give a quick stir. Add water as required (use cooked chana water) and close the lid .Let it to boil for 5- 7 mins.

  • Now add cooked chana and garam masala, allow the gravy to cook well.

  • Sprinkle some coriander on top of the dish.

Channa Masala

Notes

  • If gravy is watery add some mashed chana to the masala.
