An irresistible, perfect evening snack for kids.

What do you need to make 10 kozhukkattai

  • 150gm rice flour

  • 150ml of boiling water

  • 200gm grated coconut

  • 100gm jagggery

  • 4 cardamom - powdered

  • 1/2 tsp ghee

  • 1/2 tsp gingely oil

  • 1/2 tsp salt

Let’s Cook

For Stuffing:

  • Smash jaggery put it in the saucepan with a tbsp of water and heat until it melts.

  • Next, add grated coconut, mix well and then add cardamom powder.

  • Add 1/2 tsp of ghee and mix it well.

  • Our stuffing is ready. Keep it aside.

    For Dough:

  • Add half tsp of oil and salt in the boiling water. Slowly add rice flour and mix it continuously until the flour absorbs water. The resulting dough texture should soft and crumbly. [PIC 1]

  • Next, knead the warm dough well, Cover it with a kitchen towel and then set it aside for 5 mins. [PIC 2]

  • Make the dough in to small sized balls.

Final Preparation:

  • Grease your palm with oil and flatten the dough ball. [PIC 4]

  • Now place the small portion of stuffing in the middle of the flatten dough.

  • Carefully bring the corners together and cover it. Another method is just close the dough in half with stuffing inside. [PIC 5 & 6]

  • In low flame cook the stuffed dough in the steam cooker for 7-10 mins.


  • You can increase/decrease the jaggery as per your taste.

  • If there are leftover stuffings you can use it to prepare Opputtu.
