A traditional snack that has not changed for generations!
What do you need to make 6 Opputtu
150gm grated coconut
5 cardamom - powdered
1 cup all purpose flour / maida
1/4 cup warm water
Salt (as needed)
2 tsp ghee
Mix the flour with water, salt in a medium sized bowl and make a dough as we do for chapati.
Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let the dough rest for ten mins. Meanwhile, prepare the stuffing.
Smash the jaggery and heat it with a tbsp of water until it melts.
Add grated coconut to the melted jaggery and mix it well, Then add cardamom powder to complete the stuffing.
Make the dough into small balls. Flatten it with a chapati roller and keep a small portion of stuffing in the middle, Then wrap the dough around the stuffing to form a round shape.
Now dust the flour on the dough balls and roll it like a chapati.
Repeat the above two steps to make more.
Put the flattened stuffed dough on a greased tawa and cook it for 20 secs on both sides.
Garnish with some freshly grated coconut and serve hot.
